Latin America: politics, society and religion
Joanildo Burity is a political scientist, with a PhD in Government from the University of Essex. He is Lead Researcher and Professor in the Professional Masters in Sociology (Profsocio) at the Joaquim Nabuco Foundation (Brazil), where he also led its School of Postgraduate Studies and Institute for Social Research. He is a professor in the Postgraduate Programme in Sociology Political Science at the Federal University of Pernambuco. He was Senior Lecturer and Director of the Faith and Globalisation Programme at Durham University, UK. He was a member of the Anglican Consultative Council and of its Standing Committee and is an active lay leader in the Anglican Church in Brazil.
