Mark Hijleh

Currently Provost and Professor of Music at The King’s College in New York City, Mark Hijleh holds advanced degrees in composition, conducting, and world music from the University of Sheffield, Peabody Conservatory (Johns Hopkins University), and Ithaca College. Author of Towards a Global Music Theory and Towards a Global Music History (Routledge), he writes and speaks at the intersections of music, cultural studies, and theology. Previously, Hijleh was Professor of Music and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs at Houghton College, where he conducted the college orchestra and composed actively, including an award-winning song cycle on texts by Hildegard of Bingen.
